CCIA Spam Blocking Policy
We at Computer Central
realize the growing number of Internet users that hate junk mail. Due to the large amount
of spam e-mails, we have devised this policy that will cover all 6 phases of our filtering
of both incoming and outgoing e-mail.
Phase one: Both incoming and outgoing mail is checked by
Norton Anti Virus software for any virus. If any known viruses are found in or attached to
the e-mail, the e-mail will be bounced back to the sender. Only if the e-mail is free of
any virus will it be permitted to continue to phase two.
Phase two: Incoming mail is checked by five different spam
black list outfits. These organizations monitor and track e-mail abusers on the internet.
If any incoming email is from any one on their lists, the e-mail will be rejected.
After the mail abuse lists are checked and the sender is not on the black list, the e-mail
will continue to phase three.
Phase three: Incoming e-mail's domain (ie, win.com) is checked using DNS to see if it exists on the internet. If the domain does not exist the e-mail is bounced back to the sender. After the mail domain is checked and the sender system actually exists, on the internet the email will continue to phase four.
Phase four: Incoming e-mail's address on the domain (ie, john@win.com) is checked to see if it (john@win.com) exists on the sender's system. If the address does not exist on the sender's system the e-mail is bounced back to sender. After the mail address is checked and the sender address actually exists on the sender's system the e-mail will continue to phase five.
Phase five: Incoming e-mail's address subject headers are checked against the global poison words list. See www.ccia.net/poison.html for the list. After the mail subject header is checked, if the e-mail's subject header contains one of the words in the global list, the e-mail is deleted. Only after the global list is checked and the e-mail does not contain any of the poison words on the list will the email be allowed to continue to phase six.
Phase six: Incoming e-mail's address subject headers are checked against your personal poison words list. After the mail subject headers are checked, if the e-mail's subject header contains one of the words in your list the email sent to your Junk folder or deleted. Only after your personal list is checked and the e-mail does not contain any of the poison words will the email be delivered to your system.
